Can you look too pretty while finishing the marathon?

Running a marathon is quite a feat. After all, it's a big distance!

And usually that shows! Participants of marathons usually look a bit worse for wear when they cross that longed for finish line. They often look sweaty and red faced. But not so opera singer Katherine Jenkins! She crossed the finish line of the London Marathon in 5 hours and 47 minutes, looking like she had just enjoyed a nice cup of tea on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I look worse after only 5K...

Apparently her pretty looks didn't sit well with Daily Mail columnist Jan Moir who wrote a bitchy column about Katherine Jenkins running the marathon in 'lashings of pink lip gloss, sooty false eyelashes and sweeping, coal black eyeliner.'

Personally I think that shows tremendous courage! The risk of looking like a sad panda is enormous!

Do you wear make-up during your runs?

But did you see Ms jenkins' reply? She hit back on twitter, saying there was no eye make-up (and she wore sunglasses the whole time anyway), and the 'lip-gloss' was actually vaseline, handed out by volunteers to prevent chafing. She added that she loves and supports other women, and it's a shame Jan Moir can't do the same!

Good for her!

I don't wear make-up most days, and definitely not when I'm running!

Good for her! I did get that she wrote a reply on Twitter. It's a bit odd that Jan Moir felt the need to lash out.

I don't wear make-up either. Too much hassle.

I never wear make-up to a race. But who says you can't. Jan Moir is practicing girl hate. We already have enough of that in the world.

Pretty, during a run? Heck I can't even look pretty when I want to play dress up! One of my 1st half marathons was the Moore Fitness in Manhattan - I've never seen so many women run with make up - full out, like Ms Jenkins. I kept wondering how their make-up stayed on through the sweat and (get this) the rain! Talk about waterproof mascara!
