When is it time to buy new running shoes?

Experts say you should buy new running shoes when you've run 450 to 550 miles in them.

I run 6 kilometers, or 3.7 miles, five days a week.

I should buy new running shoes every 7 months

So that's 25 kms per week and 100 kms per month. Which makes 62 miles per month. That would mean I have to buy new running shoes every 7 months.

I can make my running shoes last about 11 to 12 months

But I can usually make them last about 11 to 12 months. It's only when I start to feel little aches and pain that I wake up and smell the risk of injury.

My body tells me when it's time

When my body starts giving me signals, I start looking at my running shoes. And as you can see in the second picture, the soles show wear and tear.

Here's 2 pictures of my old running shoes:

And here's picture of my new running shoes. I bought them last Thursday:

I alway buy the shoes the guy at the store tells me to. I've been running injury free for 15 years now, so I believe in their advice.

So the kind of shoes I wear a runner don't say anything about my personal taste. I usually don't like the way my running shoes look at all. But I feel it's more important I can run without problems than looking good : )

I wear asics as well. I don't like the way they look but I work out at home so nobody is seeing me anyways. I work out 5 days a week for 45 minutes (Beachbody workouts) and I always switch out my shoes when my knees start to hurt. I like where you say your body tells you it is time. I believe that as well. I always wondered how long you could keep your shoes until you change them out. It is really tough for me b/c they are still brand new on the outside. But then I feel bad selling them because there is absolutely no support left in them at all when I am through with them.

I don't run, but I cycle, and I always HATE the way my cycling shoes look...but they keep me safe, so that's really all that matters! #FridayFrivolity

I always put off buying new shoes, my body tells me to get on with it!

I used to run regularly - I remember the knees hurting. I learned quickly how to tell when I needed new shoes. What a huge difference it makes! Thanks for sharing at My Big Fat Menopausal Life's Share the Wealth Party!
