Tchibo running skirt: product review!

running skirt Tchibo

This skirt wants you to show off your leg!

Sometimes it just sneaks up on you. And then it hits you, just when you weren’t looking: a motivational crisis.

That’s what happened to me this morning. I réálly didn’t feel like running. Luckily I had the perfect medicine: a new running skirt! Nothing like a new piece of clothing to get a girl up and running!

Tchibo running skirt

I bought this Tchibo running skirt for 1,38 bucks on the German eBay website. After adding shipping expenses it set me back about 12 bucks. It’s always a bit risky buying something without trying it on first, but in this case it paid off.

Because the Tchibo running skirt is a great addition to my running wardrobe. It comes with built-in pants which are about 11 inches long. The skirt itself measures about 16 inches. That makes this running skirt a bit longer than my other running skirts.

The length took some getting used to. At first I felt a bit like Mel Gibson in Braveheart… But then I discovered my left leg kept peeping out of the little split on the left side, making me feel very flirty. I forgot all about the slightly longer length I was so busy showing off my leg. Besides: the longer the skirt, the more cellulite stays hidden. And that’s álways a good thing.

The material feels luxurious and expensive. It’s made out of 87% polyester and 13% elasthan. It feels much more pleasant than my Lidl running skirt, which feels like a parachute.

There’s a little pocket that closes with a zipper in the back of the skirt.

Tchibo running skirt: comfort is great

Even though I had to get used to the slightly longer than average length, I have to admit the comfort the Tchibo running skirt offers is great. Especially with temperatures dropping, this skirt will keep you warm for a while longer. And the inbuilt shorts stayed in place! Which is an absolute must for running skirts, I always feel.

Tchibo: take that Starbucks!

I did some research into this Tchibo brand, and discovered they started out selling coffee! Much like Starbucks. Then they expanded and now you can buy all kinds of things from Tchibo. Like running wear. Their running clothes retail from 12 euros for a running shirt to 49 euros for a pair of thermotights.

To sum up

I love my new Tchibo running skirt! I highly recommend it. You can check out Tchibo running wear at the Tchibo website.

Running dress: where’s the controversy?

running dressWhen running skirts first made their appearance, they caused quite a stir.

In the world of parenting there are lots of subjects you have to pussyfoot your way around, or feelings get hurt and tempers rise. Who would have thought the world of running would have similar sensitive topics! But running skirts turned out to be just that: a sensitive issue. Running skirts were considered frivolous, and doing the image of running no favors.

So I’m a bit surprised that running drésses didn’t cause an even bigger stir!

Running dress put to the test

Last week I wore a running dress for the very first time. It’s a running dress of the Dutch label Evou. After trying out their running skirt, which kept hiking up, I took the running dress for a short run instead of a long run. I did nót want to do another run with my buns of cookie dough exposed. Luckily the running dress turned out to be more comfortable. Especially since I’d taken the precaution of wearing shorts underneath.

Running dress: I felt a bit uncomfortable

Even though the running dress felt more comfortable than the Evou running skirt, I was uncomfortable in another way. I felt very conspicuous in my little running dress. Feeling like it somehow conveyed a message saying ‘Look at me! I’m a Real Runner!’ And even though I ám a real runner, I felt as if I was putting on airs by wearing a running dress.

Besides that, I think the dress looks much better with a pair of black boots than with a pair of running shoes.

After taking a running dress for a run, I can definitely say I like running skirts better!

Running skirt: Evou

running skirt evouI’ve said it before, but I just love running skirts. I think they’re the greatest thing since the invention of sliced bread and Big Macs.

So whenever there’s a new brand out, I can’t wait to try it. This week I got the opportunity to try a new Dutch running skirt of a new brand called Evou.

Evou running skirt: looks and feel

The running skirt arrived in a white box, wrapped in lilac tissue paper, offering a feeling of luxury. I loved that. It comes in purple hues, which I thought were a bit dark for Summer. When I took it out of the box I was pleasantly surprised by the softness of the fabric.

Running skirt: material

The Evou running skirt ticks all the right boxes for sportswear:

  • It’s a breathable fabric
  • It has wicked wicking power
  • It offers UV-protection
  • It’s made from recycled polyester
  • It’s got a broad elastic waisband

Hey, where are the tights?!

But when I took a closer look at the skirt my spirits dropped because it has no built-in briefs of tights. For me inbuilt undies are a must-have for running skirts.

It didn’t offer any pockets or handy little holes for earphones either. So even though it’s a cute skirt, it didn’t seem very practical to me.

The proof is in the run!

I took the Evou running skirt for a spin on my Sunday long run, which is about 10 miles. I told my husband and kids goodbye, and ran down our garden path trying to do a quick getaway. Immediately I felt the skirt creeping up, forcing me to pull it down. I was fiddling with it the whole 10 miles.

Once I got home I wanted to make sure, I wasn’t imagining things so I had my 13 year old daughter draw a line on my legs where the skirt was, when I was just standing. Then I galloped a few times around our living room, and the skirt immediately started riding up again. Here’s the proof:

I even checked the sizing table, to see if maybe I had gotten the wrong size, but that wasn’t the case.

What I like about the Evou running skirt

  • The color
  • The model
  • The material
  • The idea of tiers, which makes it look feminine
  • The length, if it’s not riding up

Recommendations to improve this running skirt

  1. Get some built in tights or briefs!
  2. Put some pockets in the built-in tights
  3. Put a pocket in this skirt
  4. Create a little hole for ear phones
  5. Do something to prevent the skirt from riding up
