Free running music

Ik found this awesome website where you can download free music mixes for running. It's called Rockmyrun.com, and the mixes are designed by popular dj's.

1 free credit on registration

When you register, you automatically get '1 credit'. You can use credits to download a mix, and 1 credit gets you a mix of 30 minutes. If you want longer mixes, you need more credits. You can buy them, or you can save up. Every month you get one free credit.

I downloaded the mix 'Golden Goodness', because it had lots of 'oldies' in it. Unfortunately it wasn't nearly enough Country for me, so after about 5 minutes of Golden Badness, I quickly switched back to my familiar songs about abandones orphans and wives.

But hey, there may be a music mix for you on rockmyrun!

So if you're interested in getting a free musix mix for your next run, run on over to Rockmyrun.com!

Running in Winter: dress like an onion!

Both as a mom, and as a runner, I firmly believe in the Danish saying: 'There is no such thing as bad weather. There's only bad clothing!'

Children's wear in Winter

So I bought lots of thermal wear for the kids, and invested heavily in mittens and heavy woollen shawls. Especially now, that we're living in the country, their regular winter wear didn't do the trick anymore.

From our previous home, I walked the kids to school. And my eldest kids only had a 20 minute bike ride to get to school. Their clothing just wasn't warm enough for longer distances.

I'm pleased to report the adjustments to their clothes worked! They're not complaining about the cold. Only about their stupid mom, making them wear thermal wear.

I'm dressing like an onion

As a runner the cold gives me pause: I definitely don't want to dress too chilly, but too hot is just as bad. Since all the running literature emphasizes the importance of layering, I decided to dress like an onion!

So this is what I wore this morning:
  1. thermal tank top
  2. thermal tights
  3. running pants from H&M
  4. hardlooptrui van Kruidvat
  5. Adidas bodywarmer
  6. Running jacket with sleevves
  7. and of course a woolen hat, mittens, and a shawl.
It took me about half an hour to get dressed, but I was neither to hot, nor too cold! So it worked.

Does the weather influence your running plans?
How do you adjust your clothing to the weather?

Country road, take me home!

The school run has never been more beautiful! The shadow, down in the right corner, is my ten year old son!
