Can you run and talk?

Honey? Honey?! You gotta breath!
I know there are lots of couple who go for a run together.

They use  running as an opportunity to connect.

Men breathe and talk differently during a run

But if your husband doesn't say much during your runs, it may simply be because of the way he breathes during a run!

The Dutch Stans van der Poel and Koen de Jong say men talk and breathe differently than women do! As usual, women can do both, while men can only do one thing at a time.

  • Men often take a deep breath, hold it, and then start talking. After they've finished their sentence they exhale, and take a new breath.

  • Women can talk and breathe out at the same time.

As you can probably imagine, holding your breath while talking doesn't feel all that good. So if your husband is kind of a silent type during your run, this may be the reason why!

Can you talk and run? And how do you breathe?

I don't get to run with another person. When I do run with a buddy, we chat, but I make sure I'm still concentrating on my breathing. If it's hard workout then there is no talking.

Yes it can become boring. That's why I like to listen to Country and Western songs.
