Friday Five: hairdos for runners

Imagine me, dressed in a white linen dress. Running through fields of corn. My hair gently flowing behind me. It almost seems like I'm floating.

Can you see her?!

But then suddenly this beautiful, ethereal woman gets overtaken by this runner! She's dressed in bright pink shorts and an orange shirt that clashes loudly with the shorts. Her hair is pulled into a messy knot. Her face is bright red, and her footsteps are heavy. Even though she's mumbling to myself: Í'm light footed, I'm light footed!'

Let's face it: running can be a messy business.

So today's Friday Five is about 5 hairdos for runners!

  1. Go for the chop. If you haven't got it, it can't get into your eyes!
  2. Pull your hair into a ponytail. I always envy those runners who have ponytails that dance from side to side while they run! Mine just whips my back.
  3. Pull your hair into a bun. If you don't want your hair to get too sweaty, this is the way to do it.
  4. If you've got short hair, you can use a band to keep your hair in place. They come in all kinds of shapes.Like a Bondi band.
  5. Wear a cap!
How do you wear your hair during a run?

I usually pull it back with a sweaty band then put it in a bun. It stays off my neck and out of my face the best way. -L

I just started running did my first 5k last weekend, nearly died, but anyway I pull it back in a pony tail, although it's to short to swish. I have these headwrap thingy's that work really well for keeping the hair out of my eyes too. :)

I usually use a pony tail, but braiding it works best. I can't do buns, they just bounce and annoy me and never stay in. My hair is too slippery I guess.

Sounds good! That way you have the best of both worlds: a bun and a sweaty band.

That's a good point. Buns only work if they're nice and tight, and don't bob up and down while you're running.

Are you growing your hair so it can swísh?!

I just go with a nice close buzz clip... though this may not be geared towards me. ;-)

I have a short hairstyle now, so I usually don't need anything! On longer runs, when I know I might get pretty sweaty, I use a head band (like a Sweaty Band) or wear a cap. I love having short hair; it's SO easy! Have a great weekend!

Ha ha! Great topic. I have short hair so have one option if I don't want it flopping all around (which I don't): wear a thick headband. Bonus is that it wicks sweat.

My hair is just barely long enough for a ponytail, as long as I add a headband to keep all the shorter layers together. I can't stand my hair on my neck if I have to do physical exercise in the heat!

I need bands when I'm running. It bothers me a lot when my fringe gets in my sight. ^_^

I used to have short hair. But the thing about short hair is that if your hair is having a bad day, there's not much you can do about it! That''s why I prefer my hair long. That way I can at least pull it into a bun : )

Yes, that's very annoying!

Popping over from the A Sorta Fairytale weekend blog hop - I always wear my hair in a bun when running or at the gym - hate sweaty hair at the back of my neck! I have been sent a Halo sweatband for my hair so will be giving that a go this week. Batiste Dry Shampoo is a must have for after a run!

I am ashamed to say I do the Britney Spears, of years past, half bun right on top.

I have had to resort to keeping mine in a braid, ponytail, or bun for just about every time of day. Thank you so much for sharing on Meandering Mondays and have a great week!
