The perks of a morning run

I'm a morning runner. And I like it.

In fact I'ld hate to have to run later on in the day.

But what exactly are the perks of a morning run?

  • You can bask in the glow of knowing you've run áll day!
  • After your run, your body will continue on burning calories. Even if you're sitting down. It just works that way!
  • It's one less thing to do on your to-do-list. So you can enjoy crossing something off.
  • By running in the morning you're making sure you get your run in. That way you're less vulnerable to what your kids throw at you.

Don't you believe me when I say morning runs are the best?

Then let this song convince you:

The drawbacks of morning runs

To be fair, I'm also going to list the drawbacks of morning runs. The way I see it, most drawbacks of morning runs have to do with safety.

  • People driving their car may still be a bit sleepy. And therefore less alert.
  • During Fall and Winter morning runs can be quite dark.
  • If your mornings are busy, running can feel like too much. One more thing you have to squeeze in.

Are you a morning runner? Or more of an afternoon/evening runner?

I am definitely a morning runner. Thankfully, I have a group of six (at the largest) working mom's who run as early as 4:30 am. :)

I love running first thing in the morning. I hate having the run hanging over my head all day knowing I need to get it done.

I got my run in today. I am just getting back in the habit and mornings sound like a great plan.

I don't run. I walk. And I prefer to get it done in the morning. It's cooler and like you said, then I'm done!

Morning run for the win. I feel like I have wasted the day when I go for a run in the afternoon/evening.

Wow that is really early! I'm impressed.

I can totally relate Christy. I'm the same way. I like to get it over with first thing too.

Well done Helene, for taking up running again! Make sure it does become a habit. That way your willpower can get a break ; )

That's interesting Matilda! Do you feel like you don't get the same benefits from a run in the evening?

I am without a doubt a morning runner, and I'm usually up and at it by 5am. I love the feeling of being down with my workout for the day by the time most people are even getting out of bed!!
