5 great running and parenting quotes

Sometimes you read a line. Or you hear someone say something. And it strikes a chord deep inside of you.

That's what these 5 quotes do for me.

They're about Parenting and Running.

This one gives me courage

If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run. (John Bingham)

This one makes me smile, and tells me: 'You don't have to be perfect!'

Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry. (Bill Cosby)

This one makes me feel stronger!

Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do. (Benjamin Spock)
This one helps me realize, both as a mom ánd a runner that there is no need for speed. Because if you move through fast, you miss out on a lot!

I took a speed-reading course and read War and Peace in twenty minutes. It involves Russia. (Woody Allen)
And this one reminds me that my children are their own person. And that as a mom I have to give them roots and then let them fly.

Your children are not your children. They are sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. ( Khalil Gibran)

What inspires you?

Ah love the quote from Bing Crosby, "Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry."

I love that first quote! I'm so quick to say "I'm not a runner!". Well someone should remind me that I just ran 8 miles on Friday and I'm running my first half marathon in 2 months!! I AM a runner!! Great post - I'm over from the #SITSblogging linkup!

Great quotes. Especially love the first one. Any quote related to positivity inspires me to keep my chin up, stay positive and if something bad does happen, as my mother always says... "and this too shall pass". It is similar to a recent quote I saw : "it never rains forever".

I love the 'This too shall pass,' quote. Thanks!

Yes, it is a great quote. But it was Bill Cosby who said it. Not the singer Bing Crosby.
