Food for thought and a run

My son Jan (12) who's in his final year of elementary school, has had the bad luck of being in a kind of toxic group. There's a lot of nastiness going around and some terrible girls even accused him of threatening them with a knife. It turned out, of course, they'd made the whole thing up, but these terrible accusations really shook me up. And every time I see those wicked girls I feel like kicking them.

Things got even worse when these same girls accused the teacher of sexual advances. Now this teacher is the kindest man you can imagine, he's even a grandfather, and he was crushed by everything.

Anyway, what has all this got to do with running you may ask? Well the answer is obvious: it provides me with lots of fuel! Fuel to run and fuel for thoughts while I run. I often run with music, but lately I didn't need to. I had plenty to keep my mind occupied and help me find my equilibrium again!

This kind of thing really frustrates me. I wonder if there will be any serious repercussions for the girls.

Le sigh.

Hi Nat,

thanks for your comment! You make a good point. Unfortunately these girls are being very much protected! The school is very careful not to name any names so théy won't get into trouble.

It's as if the world has gone topsy turvy. The bad guys, or girls in this case, are protected while the victims have to fend for themselves.

It is indeed frustrating.
On the up side: i've never run so fast.

What is wrong with this girls? Are their parents not teaching them that by doing this kind of thing not only is it terribly unfair to your son and this teacher but they are making life harder for girls who actually ARE being abused. Because now we have to question everybody. Obviously they're not.
I hear you on the fuel thing. Whenever I take a kickboxing class I think about anything terrible I've heard on the news that week (like little kids being kidnapped or murdered) and I imagine that I am kicking the he** out of the perpetrators.

This kind of thing happens all too often. I'm sorry you're having to go through it with your son. Hopefully those girls will learn their lesson sooner rather than later. And like someone else said, where are their parents????

Wow, these things really stress me out. My son is 6 and my daughter is almost 4 so we are not yet at this stage. Yours is not the first story I have heard and it hurts my heart that these kids act this way! Really scary.. Good that you use for fuel- I would too!

That really sucks. This is exactly why I can't stand teenagers. I hope their karma returns the favor...

I can't even imagine that happening. I am amazed at the behavior of some kids and it really makes me wonder about their parents. Do they not know? Do they not care?

I have 2 daughters and have discovered how awful girls can actually be.
